A list component concept for MeeGo IVI UX

About

MeeGo IVI systems deliver navigation, communication, entertainment, and Internet services inside vehicles.

Linja's list component for MeeGo IVI minimizes eyes-off-the-road time while driving. Focusing on facilitating list selection tasks, such as choosing from a call contact list, it features a list-embedded keyboard, enabling ever-present keyword search.

This project has been developed in partnership with Nomovok.

3D space for Android home screen

About

Linja Home Space creates a larger visible screen area just by turning the device, giving the user a unique 3D experience. It is based on a Gyroscope-controlled parallax of home screen objects.

Linja Reporter makes handwriting faster, with cleaner and more compact text than normal handwriting. Automated text organizing and basic text editing features borrowed from word processors make the Reporter a new extended handwriting experience.

Facts

Linja Zax is an open source project developing an easy way to zoom in and out of web pages with single touch. Linja Zax version 1.0.3 is browser extension for Mozilla Firefox browser, adding touch screen optimized page viewing, including integrated zooming and panning control with single touch. The core insight on the concept is a unique experience of simultaneous zooming and panning. The 1.0.3 release was launched on 18.09.2009.

Concept advantages

• Full zooming control with one hand on mobile touch screen devices.
• Rotation as a zooming gesture relates to the metaphor of zooming with a camera objective.
• Integrated zooming and panning.
• Seamless transition from zooming into 2D objects (i.e. a web page) to moving along the Z-axle within a 3D space (i.e. web page history items that are floating within a 3D space).
• Adds the Z-axle control for any 3D application.

Concept targets

1. We develop the source code of Linja Zax. We are encouraging developers to use our source code in their own projects to spread the spiral zoom method as wide as possible. We are striving to make Linja Zax an industry standard concept.

Guidance

Gesture

The usage of Linja Zax plugin is very intuitive. Zooming is controlled by rotating a stylus or finger on zooming target point on the screen. The zoom is activated by panning the view with the stylus/finger in a circular motion. Rotating clockwise indicates zooming in, rotating counter clockwise indicates zooming out. Double tapping restores the original zoom level. As your gesture on the screen is fluent, the zooming and panning follows steplesly.

Enable/Disable

The extension can be enabled or disabled with a tap/click on the Linja Zax icon on the top toolbar.

The following parameters can be adjusted: Zoom steps in percentage (default 6), rotation angle threshold in degrees (default 2), Zoom mode angle limit in degrees (default 95) and the mouse move threshold in pixel (default 4). The default settings should be suitable for a smooth interaction.

Uninstall

As all Firefox plugins, Linja Zax can be simply removed by opening the Add-ons menu and choosing uninstall.

The Linja Series 60 calculator was designed and developed by those at Linja.

With a clean and easy to use interface, the Linja S60 calculator can prove to be a better solution when calculating simple equations on your mobile phone. Instead of clicking multiple times to get to a basic math function such as with the default Nokia S60 calculator, the addition, divide, multiply and subtract functions are dedicated onto the up, down, left and right areas of the rocker key. Thus, making calculations quicker and easier to do.
